A few hours ago Netflix posted the first photos of Chadwick Boseman’s last movie Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Last month 43 years old Chadwick Boseman passed away due to colon cancer, everyone around the world was shocked after Chadwick’s death, innumerable tributes paid online in the memory of Chadwick from fans, directors, actors, and producers. Chadwick is well-known for his Marvel Cinematic Universe character King T’Challa, aka Black Panther. After the news of his death fans are looking forward to seeing his last onscreen appearance.
Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom is the adaptation of August Wilson’s play with the same name, the movie also casts Viola Davis (Academy Award winner) directed by George C. Wolfe and produced by Denzel Washington. Story of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom is about when the tension rise as a band of musicians awaits for the legendary Mother of the Blues, Ma Rainey (Davis) for their recording session in the 1920s. In movie, Chadwick plays the role of trumpet player Levee, who has his own dreams and goals.

Last time August Wilson play was adapted in the 2016s feature film Fences, and it got four Oscar nominations, one of which Davis won Best Supporting Actress and no wonder in this latest adaptation Boseman will nominate for an Oscar after his tragic death. It will be a right way to honor his last onscreen appearance. This will depend on when the awards season plan.
Because of Boseman’s last performance, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom will gain lots of attention. But still it’s hard to believe we will not see him again after this film, so many fans will definitely watch this movie.
