Who isn’t interested in the controversy between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard? Here is the most recent news from the previous week.
Both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have been back in court on Monday to resume the trial after a week off. Amber Heard, Johny Depp’s ex-wife, is being sued in Virginia for libel for a piece she wrote for the Washington Post in 2018. In the libel trial filed against her by ex-husband Johnny Depp, Amber Heard’s defense continues. During the six-week trial, the court heard from friends, family members, and employees who worked with and spent time with the ex-couple.
Despite the fact that she did not mention him, he argues that her charges have harmed his capacity to work. The case stems from a public claim made by Heard about their marriage in a Washington Post op-ed, which prompted Depp to sue for $50 million in damages. Heard has rejected ever being physically aggressive. Heard is suing for $100 million in retaliation.
Several of Heard’s former acquaintances, as well as her sister, acting coach, and makeup artist, have testified. They all testified about seeing her injuries or about purported fights with Depp. On Thursday, Depp’s longtime pal said the actor had a jealous streak, while his former agency claimed he glorified narcotics and was often late to shoots, negatively harming his business.
Another interesting nugget of evidence is that jurors were given love letters written by Heard to Depp in 2015. Depp is portrayed in the notes as a buddy with whom Heard had fallen in love. Also, it revealed a new nickname “Stevie” for Johnny Depp whose full name is “John Christopher Depp II”, so the nick has nothing to do with his real name.
“True love isn’t just about the madness of passion or instead picking the safety of peace,” Heard wrote. ”No, it’s about having both. Falling madly in love with your friend.”
“You are the last thing in the whole world who deserves it, [the] the last person I ever meant to hurt,” she said. ”I love you, Steve. I am so forever yours. XX Slim.”
But why ‘Steve’?
The trial is scheduled to run through the following week. The final arguments are scheduled for May 27.
