It’s been almost 10 days since George Floyd died when Minneapolis police officer arrested him because of the purchase of cigarettes with fake money, during the arrest police officer kneeled on him for almost nine minutes even after George Floyd was continuously repeating “I can’t breathe”. Through these 10 days, enormous protests started all over the country against police violence. Thousands of people came out on the streets to protest against racism. Kanye West usually a spoken person but on this event, he has been shockingly quiet.

But Yesterday he delivered a message through his representative that for the charities related with George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery he has donated $2 million, and he also set up a fund to cover college tuition fee for Gianna 6-year old daughter of George Floyd. Also he promised to cover legal costs for the Arbery and Taylor families, and he will also be supporting black-owned businesses of his hometown Chicago with financial donations.
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison charged police officer Derek Chauvin with second-degree murder also with third degree charge filed last week against him, On Wednesday the other three officers and J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane and Tou Thao were charged for the assisting and supporting second-degree murder.
In the video Thao was seen watching Chauvin detained George Floyd on the ground and put his knee on Floyd’s neck, during the arrest Floyd continuously saying that he can’t breathe also the people standing nearby insisted the officers to help Floyd.
Medical Examiner’s office of Hennepin County declared that the death of Floyd a homicide which was differed from the report when an independent autopsy performed on behalf of the Floyd family, in the family autopsy report its declared that the cause of death was asphyxiation. Coroner’s report specified it was the result of the police restraint with the combination of medical conditions and intoxication.
