Analyzing the film industry’s trends in the past few years it would be safe to say that nostalgia has served as one of the major factors behind the release of several major hits. The Wachowski’s Matrix is also all set to make a grand return to the silver screen as director Lawa Wachowski has announced an upcoming Matrix 4 Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Ann Moss and Jada Pinkett Smith aka Niobe (yes, possibly). Did you just go like, Whaaaat?
I know right? If you are a fan of the Matrix franchise (I am assuming you are because who isn’t?), then you must feel
excited already. Also, seeing Keanu Reeves on the screen is no small deal. I even feel hyper excited while writing about it. Seeing Jada back as Niobe can turn this sequel into an epitome of perfection.
The news has already sparked many discussions among the fans. They have started to wonder whether The Matrix 4 will feature a new story or there is going to be a continuity to the previous installments. The return of old characters surely makes it appear as if the producers will probably focus on reliving the original story.
The role of Niobe
Let’s just agree that Niobe was a real badass character in the initial two sequels. She always believed in Neo as the true
leader and fought against the machines with whatever she had. Her support for Neo as The Chosen One clearly reflects in her life and we couldn’t be more excited to see Jada return in the fourth sequel.
Wachowski had recruited Jada Pinkett Smith to play the character of Niobe, ahead of The Matrix Reloaded filming. If you don’t know much about her appearances other than on the big screen, you must know that she also the protagonist of action-adventure video game Enter the Matrix. It arrived in 2003, just as the first part of The Matrix movie was released.
What do we really know about The Matrix 4?
Honestly, not much has been officially announced regarding the fourth part. If our prayers are heard and Jada Pinkett Smith is officially making a comeback to the franchise then she will be accompanying Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Ann Moss, Neil Patrick Harris, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II from Aquaman.
It is not sure what character will Abdul-Mateen II could be playing but I feel he will be shown as a young version of Laurence Fishburne’s Morphius.
Brace yourselves as The Matrix 4 is expected to be launched in 2022. Till then, enjoy the nostalgia as you rewatch the initial parts.
