Star War actor Max von Sydow Dies At Age 90

Famous Star war actor Max Von Sydow dies at the age of 90 on 8th of March, confirmed by his wife in an email. Sydow has served the film-industry for around seven decades.

Von Sydow moved to the third-largest city of Sweden Malmö, where he started his acting career on stage with Ingmar Bergman. He worked with Bergman (a famous writer, director of his time) in his eleven movies including The Seventh Seal (1957), Wild Strawberries (1957), The Virgin Spring (1960), Through A Glass Darkly (1961), Rabies (1958), The Magician (1958), Brink of Life (1958), Shame (1968), The Touch (1971) and so on. Bergman films gave him the image of a classy man and he became an icon for people.

The most famous role that Von Sydow played was The Seventh Seal in which he played chess with death. This movie was a breakthrough for his career including Bergman’s. Some scenes gave him worldwide recognition and he was awarded accordingly.

Star war actor Von Sydow returned to Sweden and started working for theatres and films in Sweden. He was approached many times by Hollywood directors especially he was top priority for the lead role in Dr.No (1962) but he agreed to play role of Jesus in The Greatest Story Ever Told (1965). After that his family shifted to America while he never forgot his native country.

He worked as a villain in The Exorcist (1973) and Hawaii (1966) and Three Days of the Condor (1975). He won awards for his Danish movie Pelle the Conqueror (1987) which won Best Academy Award for Foreign Language Film. He worked in a biopic Hamsun, a movie made on novelist Knut Hamsun.

He worked in more than 100 films and TV series. His latest work includes Shutter Island (2010) with Robin Hood, Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), Kursk (2017). He also played role in Game of Thrones (2016) as Three-Eyed Raven. Von Sydow was also a guest star in The Simpsons”

Sydow was known to be an atheist. However in 2012, he told in an interview that his mentor and friend Bergman promised him to contact him after his death to make Sydow believe in after life. When he was asked if he was contacted by Bergman he said I never believed in life after death but now I do.

He died on 8th of March,2020, his family announced his death on 9th March 9, 2020.
