The Witcher Season 2 is the most speculated season to come will finish filming almost until February 2021. The original schedule of the show was from February 2020 to August 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, the filming was halted after 5 weeks of shooting. Netflix announced that the filming of The Witcher season 2 will begin in August.

The Witcher is a Netflix fantasy drama series created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. It is based on the novel book series of the same name by a Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. Three video games have also been adopted by this novel. The story revolves around Geralt of Rivia, possessing special powers and training to slay monsters. He is genetically enhanced. In the starting of the show, he is given the task to cure Princess Adda daughter of King Foltest’s, she is transformed into a monster due to a curse.

Season 1 of the show was very well received by the critics and fans around the world. Fans are waiting for the second season from the time the first season ended.

The filming of the show will comprise of 8 months including the five-week time already filmed before the lockdown. The series was scheduled to film in 5 to 6 months of time but the filming period has extended due to the precautions to be taken while filming due to the pandemic situation.

However this is the good news for fans that were eagerly waiting for The Witcher season 2, however, the safety of the crew is the most important of all as we all know that Kristofer Hivju also suffered from coronavirus and it could be a huge risk for the crew and the cast if proper safety guidelines are not followed. Kristofer Hivju is added to the cast of season 2, he is known for his role as Tormund Giantsbane on Game of Thrones (HBO).

There were also rumors that Natalie Dormer is also part of The Witcher Season 2. She is known as her role in Game of Thrones as Margaery Tyrell, but later it was confirmed that she is not part of the cast for the show.

No official date has been announced for the release of The Witcher season 2, but fans should expect it in 2021 if the filming goes as planned. The production has not provided any detail about the plot of season 2, the pictures of the set and locations indicate the show will continue Sword of Destiny and will also start Blood of Elves, the first novel of the Witcher Saga.
